Die Zauberflöte
(The Magic Flute)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791)
'The Magic Flute', also known as 'Die Zauberflöte' in German, is a famous opera composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with a libretto written by Emanuel Schikaneder. The opera was first performed in 1791, just two months prior to Mozart's death, and is considered one of Mozart's most beloved and enduring works. The overture to ‘The Magic Flute’ was performed at the seventh and eleventh Sydney concerts, likely by the Bands of the 57th or 3rd Regiments.
